Need some help when running migration commands on .ts files

When I am running script to generate migrations in drizzle, I am getting this error

Error: Cannot find module './schema/course.js'

Basically, this is related to the automated .ts to .js transpilation due to the tsconfig (as generated on hono create)
"target": "ESNext",
"module": "NodeNext",

I found that one possible solution can be to update tsconfig.json as discussed in this issue (#3211)
However, would like to know whether this is a official solution or there is a better way
